This is a new variation of the established Companion line. The Companions are one of the most popular models Morakniv makes. They are nearly perfect all around knives for outdoor use. The knives are a handy size, light to carry and comfortable to use. While durable enough to last a lifetime or two, they are priced so that you won’t cry if you drop one in the lake.
The blade marked to celebrate 125 years of knife making. To highlight the etched markings Mora applied a satin polish rather than the usual mirror polish. This results in spine with sharper corners that will spark a ferro-rod firesteel. The corners are not as sharp as those on the Bushcraft series, but they will work. Of course it would be easy to refine the corners with a diamond plate or hard whetstone. It’s called the “Black Anniversary Knife” to differentiate it from the standard Companion Anniversary Knife, which has gold trim on the handle. This one comes with a less obtrusive all-black handle and sheath.
The satin polished stainless blade is just under 4” long, .834” wide at the base, and .099” thick. The handle is about 4 7/8” long and sized for average hands. It’s made of hard thermoplastic with a rubberized overlay for improved grip. The knife weighs just under 3 ounces, or about 4 ¼ ounces in the sheath. The sheath clips over the belt, or will attach to a button.
